Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

At Diss Church of England Junior Academy, we believe that learning a foreign language is an essential part of preparing our pupils for life in a multicultural and interconnected world. Through the study of Spanish, children not only develop practical communication skills but also gain a deeper understanding of other cultures and ways of life.

We teach Spanish across Key Stage 2 using the Primary Languages Network scheme of work. This carefully sequenced curriculum enables pupils to build their confidence and competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. Lessons are engaging and interactive, using songs, games, stories and digital resources to make language learning enjoyable and meaningful.

Through MFL, our pupils develop curiosity about the wider world, respect for diversity and an enthusiasm for communication beyond their own language. By the end of Key Stage 2, they are well prepared for further language learning in secondary school and beyond.
