Design And Technology

Design and Technology

Intent

At Diss Church of England Junior Academy it is our aim to inspire pupils to be innovative and creative thinkers who have an appreciation for the product design cycle through the formation of ideas, creation, and evaluation. We want pupils to develop the confidence to take risks, through drafting design concepts, modelling, and testing and to be reflective learners who evaluate their work and the work of others. Through our scheme of work, we aim to build an awareness of the impact of Design and Technology on our lives and encourage pupils to become resourceful, enterprising citizens who will have the skills to contribute to future design advancements.
Our Design and Technology scheme of work enables pupils to meet the end of key stage attainment targets in the National curriculum. It is our aim to create strong cross curricular links with other subjects, such as Mathematics, Science, Computing, and Art. We want Design and Technology to prepare our children, to give them the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences they need to be successful in Key Stage 3 and in later life.

Spirituality:
In Design and Technology we encourage pupils to be creative and imaginative, to reflect on their own and others ideas and wonder about the purpose of human technological achievement. We appreciate and reflect upon the aesthetic nature of  materials and design.
