Music

At Diss Primary Academy Partnership we aim to deliver a high-quality music education which will engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, increasing their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.

Through well-planned lessons and musical activities, children will be taught the essential skills to help them become musicians:

  • perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians
  • learn to sing and to use their voices, to create and compose music on their own and with others
  • have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument
  • understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the inter-related dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations

Visiting peripatetic teachers from the Music Hub and ‘Rock Steady’  enhance the music curriculum for the children in KS2 by teaching them to play a musical instrument and learn about being in a band.

There are many opportunities for the children to perform music across the year including singing for the Diss Christmas Lights switch on, The Big Sing, assemblies, plays and performances in school (Harvest, Christmas concerts, Year 6 play).
