This Autumn, our class book is 'Beowulf'. This exciting fantasy book is set in Anglo Saxon Times. The hero, Beowulf, rids Denmark of the fearsome monster, Gredel! This epic poem has been adapted by Michael Morpurgo, into a traditional tale for young readers. In Whole Class Reading, we are examining a variety of stories, non fiction and poetry, all linked to our topic, the Anglo Saxons.
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday. Your child will need to come into school wearing their PE kit and will wear their kit for the rest of the day. Over the coming term, we will studying Athletics and devising our own socially distanced games, which can also be played on the playground. This is a slight change to those listed on our news letter due to our current covid-19 precautions. PE will take place outdoors as much as possible. As the weather is still cooler, your child will require a suitable P.E. kit. Tracksuit trousers and a warm jumper will be needed in addition to a white t-shirt and black P.E. shorts.
Spelling lists will be sent home on a Wednesday to be tested the following Wednesday. There is no need to return the list to school. All children should be using Times Tables Rockstars and login details have been sent home with the children. Should you experience any difficulties when logging in to the site, contact us as soon as possible so that we can resolve the problem.
Home books will be issued on a Monday. These can only be returned on a Friday to allow time for us to quarantine the books before re-issue. We will soon be sending out details of our new whole school reading scheme, Reading Eggs; watch this space!

This will take you to the Google Classroom page, Year 5 2020/2021. You will need to log in using your child's school email. Your child will know their email, the format of the email will be:
Once this is entered, you will need to use their password. To ensure security, all of the children's passwords will be reset. These will then be forwarded to you.
Once the password is entered, you should see the Year 5 folder icon. If not, click on the three lines in the top left corner, this will give you a drop down list of available classrooms. To join the Year 5 classroom, you will need to enter the code:
